FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2022

The FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2022 will be offered remotely.

The FOCAL team opens an opprtunity for everyone to create visual graphics, 2D/3D animation, animated gif, social media post, icons, theme design etc, by using open source software namely GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, Blender and Synfig Studio. This material will be upload free of cost and under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License on the FOCAL website.

SCREENING TASKS 

Note:  Participants can complete any one "Screening Task" and submit. 

1) Graphics Screening Task

Complete any FOUR from the list given below (out of six) using open source software -  Inkscape, Scribus and GIMP. Do not repeat the design.

  1. Design Social Media Post - using Inkscape
  2. Object illustration or Icons (vector drawing) - using Inkscape
  3. Flyer/ brochure  - using Scribus
  4. Layout of one page of  newsletter / newspaper  / magazine in four coloumn or three coloumn page  - using Scribus
  5. Animated gif for website (promotional) banner  - using GIMP
  6. Creating a poster A4 size - using GIMP / Inkscape / Scribus

2) Animation Screening Task

Create short animation using Synfig Studio or Blender for academic education content. ( you can choose topics from 9th grade and above)

  • While making animation in Synfig Studio / blender 3D  use Inkscape, GIMP to create supportive images or vector elements
  • Use latest version of Synfig Studio and Blender 3D

Procedure to submit both Graphics and Animation tasks:

Prepare a project directory in your google drive which include the following:

  • native format file
  • output .pdf /.png/.jpg /.avi file
  • font files
  • reference supportive images if any

Send the Link of your google drive repository to contact-focal@fossee.in  with the subject 'FSF 2022 graphics & animation task'/

3) Web Development Task

  • Create a responsive web page in Drupal 9 (use existing free drupal modules).
  • To create the web page you can use the dummy content or the content of image gallery of FOCAL website (reference https://focal.fossee.in/inkscape)
  • /Upload your webpages on github repository.

      Submission Web development Task

  • Create a Github Account or use your existing one.
  • Create a new repository in your Github Account for this task called fsf_2022_task3
  • Send the Link of your github repository to contact-focal@fossee.in  with the subject 'GitHub link: FSF 2022 task3'


Evaluation criteria:

Following criteria will be considered while evaluating the submissions:

  • Handling of software to complete the task
  • Creativity and presentation skill
  • Include Plagiarism

  • Certificate of FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2022
  • Recognition on the FOCAL website

 

Technical Requirements

For Graphics and animation designing task participant should have knowledge of open source graphics and animation software and for web development HTML, CSS,  Javascritp and Drupal 9 etc.
